Non-Driver's Cars That Are Fun To Drive Not Everybody Can Afford A Best Driver's Car. Here Are Some Alternatives. It's a rare treat when a car over-delivers on its promises. A family sedan, for example, is expected to be roomy, fuel efficient, and safe, but it's an added bonus when it's also fun to drive. The following vehicles aren't considered driver's cars, but they are surprisingly enjoyable, proving that low-slung and expensive sports cars don't have a monopoly on fun. For instance, the Ford Focus. Ford's little hatch has won over many enthusiasts thanks to the quick and agile Focus ST. The normal Focus, however, is fun to drive as well, with responsive steering and a suspension setup that not only soaks up the bumps, but also keeps the compact planted and steady through the curves. Its 2.0-liter inline-four lacks the ST's turbocharger but it still feels eager, making a respectable 160 hp and 146 lb-ft of torque. We'd opt for the five-speed manual over the six-speed twin-clutch automatic for maximum fun.
